Is it true that Prime Minister Paul Martin convinced U2 to make a stop in Ottawa during their latest tour?

Yep. Martin has a good relationship with U2 singer Bono because of their shared interest in reducing third-world debt. In February, Martin was asked by Ottawa’s BOB-FM to help “convince U2 to come to Ottawa.” A few days later, Martin spoke to Bono over the phone and suggested the band stop in Ottawa to support all the civil servants there dedicated to world-aid. A week later, Bono left a message with the PM’s Office and said that Ottawa was added as a stop on their tour.
